The Grifs recent tough patch is not coincidental. With a real shot at the championship I am wondering how the call-ups will go. Clearly this team will not have Helm for their run. I think Fraser should begin working his lines together with that in mind. I doubt Leino sticks in Detroit to play 4th line minutes. I think (the beter wordhere may be hope!) he will be FIRED up to carry the Grifs. I also do not believe another Grif will be on the Wings post season roster.
any thoughts on this topic?

Babcock stated today that Helm was going to be playing in Detroit during the playoffs. So the only way he sees any AHL playoff time is if we go on a long run and Detroit goes out early. It didn't sound like they had made a concrete decision on Leino yet...

From the sounds of it, it seems like we've seen Darren Helm play his last game in a Griffins uniform. I can't say he'll stick coming out of camp for next season, I guess that all depends on how the summer goes, but with Babcock being so high on him, it seems he's found a place there. All the best to Darren, hopefully he continues his great play up there.
As for Leino, I think they'll probably send him back to get some playing time, and playoff experience.

Dunno about Leino . . . I think he may very well stay in Detroit. The rumor mill has been spinning various scenarios about trading two or more second-tier Wings to make cap room for the big Hossa/Franzen deal. Two or more Griffins will then move to Detroit for the duration. In case you missed it, I thought this was a terrific Leino article: www.nhl.com/ice/news.htm?id=409479

Obviously, Helm in Detroit hurts the top line. However, the guy is playing in every game and we all understand the Grifs feed the Wings players. HOWEVER, Leino is begin scratched and playing 4th line minutes (yes along with some top 6 minutes in certain games). If this is all he will get in Detroit, theGrifs could sure use him for the post season!
