Hello! My name is Nathan and ill be posting game notes on all the griffins away games @ chicago wolves, milwaukee admirals and rockford icehogs.
2nd meeting in 3 days between these to Midwest division rivals, Griffins taking the first game 6-3.
Game started off quick, Tatar with some speed took a slapshot from the left dot, giving a juicy rebound out towards Nyquist who shot it in for the 2nd shot of the game, 1st goal of the game. Shortly after Pirri take a crosschecking penalty. Griffins struggle to get anything going on the PP. Parkes Took a dumb Boarding penalty. Griffins regained their steam and Ferraro and Sheahan had two chances on the PK. It wasn't enough as the icehogs found the back of the net. Griffins go on the PP. Better pressure than last but too predictable going to Billins and Almquist for the point shots, not enough cycling. Parkes takes an even dumber boarding penalty, a major and is tossed from the game. On the five minutes PK the griffins are on their game, sticks are in passing lanes, crease is cleared out. No goal on the major.
Wade Brookbank went after Triston grant, some retaliation from wed's game boiling over, more of a wrestling match as the two fall to the ice. last two minutes of period Icehogs put up another goal. end of first 2-1 Icehogs.
2nd period. Neither team could get much going, as if each was waiting for the other to open stuff up. Tatar stole the puck at center ice giving it to Sheahan who had a decent breakaway, just couldn't get the shot off in time. A scuffle by Mrazek led to Evans fighting Ben Smith in a one sided affair. Same score end of period
The 3rd period the first line was buzzing Tatar tipped in a Nicastro point shot tying it up. Icehogs picked up the pace and were hitting every chance they got. It paid off as they scored again, and again 3 minutes later. The griffins never seemed to be able to get their legs moving after Tatars goal. Lashoff in the box and Icehogs score again. Brookbank Jumped Evans for fighting smith earlier in the last minute of the period not much came of it. game end 2-5 Icehogs.

Observations:
The team had been on a 5 game road Trip last game of the trip. From the drop of the puck you could feel the Icehogs wanted revenge from wed night's beating the Griffins laid on them. Parkes tried to answer early but crossed the line putting the bench short.
The PK came up huge on the major. Sheahan and Ferraro were very impressive turning every time they had the puck into a potential breakaway. Seemed like Ferraro never left the PK. His point streak came to an end tonight.
Callahan was also impressive on the PK and forecheck.
The top line was buzzing the first two periods but seemed to have lost steam the 3rd, Nyquist continues to create out of nothing and his chemistry with Tatar is benefiting who ever plays in the middle of them.
Sheahan had a solid game using his size to defend the puck, it'd like to see him be more physical with his size.
Nicastro had a strong game and made up for some give always by Almquist. Almquist sure has the offensive know how much he needs to avoid getting his so often as so many hit take him out of the play. Evans and Billins couldn't find a rhythm tonight and struggled to get the puck out of the D zone. Paestch and Lashoff Played well ragging the puck on the PK and shutting down the crease presence of the opposition most of the night. Both players had to have blocked at least 4 shots a piece.
