So what are the nice area hotels? I'm going out there for a CMU football game, and a wing game on 12/1, and need a nice place to stay. Anyone have any suggestions?

Coyote - if you want to stay right downtown - there are TWO that I would recommend (besides the GM Place) -
1. ATHENEUM (my favorite) - right by Greektown Casino (EXCELLENT SUITE STYLE) (the hockey teams stay here quite often)
2. MARRIOTT - (On Jefferson Ave).
Have a GREAT time.

Thanks, Jack. My wife keeps trying to get me to go back to Detroit for a game, and I kinda balk at the idea. It's such a long drive, and I didn't know where to stay. How's the parking?

I had it narrowed down to the Antheneum and one of the two marriotts. If the rooms are nicer (see bigger) at one or the other, I'd probably go with that one. Seeing as how Jack made that comment about the Antheneum being "suite style" I'll probably go with that one. It needs to be one great hotel for my great weekend. Thanks for the help guys. See ya Wednesday.

Well, we ended up going for the Marriott in the Ren. Center. 62 floors up, and we got a view of the river. The room was REALLY nice, but the Ren Center is under construction. So you walk in any of the lower floors and hear jack hammers, etc. going. With the way things went, I'd definitely stay at that hotel again.
