The Griffins desperately need an offensive D-man. With the departure of Helmer and Wilson, they've lost ALOT of offense from the blueline and need to fill that hole. As of right now that hole has been filled by Norton, Ericsson and Smith..3 guys who didn't even score a goal last year. I personally think the Griffins are thin on the offensive side of things too, especially compared to last years team. They have Hussey and Kolanos..Hussey had a career year last year and still only had 20 goals and 50 points..nothing too amazing. Kolanos has only played here and there in the AHL and has injury problems. McGrath is a rookie..and Himelfarb is coming off a terrible, injury-hampered year. Not only that, but alot of these guys have to clear waivers before even reaching GR..Norton, Kolanos, and I think even Hussey. That could be a bad thing if some of them get picked up..GR would be in huge trouble. I think they are depending on the "we hope they live up to expectations" idea too much. I know they are already near the max veteran line-up (I believe you can only have 5 on the roster)...but ideally I'd like to see a consistent 30 goal scorer and an offensive d-man signed for GR. Ray Giroux comes to mind as far as unsigned offensive D-men. www.hockeydb.com/ihdb/stats/pdisplay.php3?pid=18094
